Roderick is a versatile athlete on the defensive side of the ball. He pays both linebacker and end in high school, but with his frame he will be an end in college. That being said, he is a player who would be a great fit in a 3-4 defense and could be a guy that a coordinator could do some different things with and stand up at times. He has a nice frame and should be able to develop into a player with ideal type measurables for the position. What you really like about Howard is that he is able to be physical but possesses enough athletic ability to be disruptive all along the line of scrimmage. He has nice explosiveness off the ball. For a big man, he is able to get off, squeeze and be a guy that can chase down plays from the backside. His quickness matched with his ability to change directions and not waste steps allows him to be a guy you need to account for regardless of where you run the ball. He is physical at the point of attack and displays the ability to hold his ground. He appears on film to have a nice wing span and plays with knees bent. He should be able to create separation and shed at the college level. He uses his hands now but can be a bit inconsistent with them. He will let blockers into his chest or engage with his forearms at times. He is usually so much bigger and athletic then his opponents that he can overcome that, but blockers at the college level will know how to take advantage of that and lock on. He runs well and has good straight-line speed. His running motion can seem wild at times and as he improves that should be able to play even a little faster. He can be a guy who can handle zone drops at times and not get killed in space. As a rusher his size and get-off make him dangerous. He can be a guy who can get into a blocker and get push but also use reach to execute moves and defeat blockers. Overall, Roderick is an excellent prospect. He combines size, physical play and athletic ability make him a big time playmaker....
