Josh is a big, bull in a china shop linebacker/DE 'tweener that is at his best as a between the tackles plugger and downhill player. He has very good overall measurables, functional size and strength and can anchor at the point of attack. He is thick, yet nimble. Shows surprising closing speed and ability to explode on contact as a tackler. Will show some crushing blows, he consistently plays downhill with great pursuit angles. Shows the ability to weave through the wash with his quickness and shed blockers at the point of attack. Displays excellent lateral and change-of-direction speed to chase down plays to the sideline as well. He is an asset as a blitzer with his short-area acceleration and rugged style of play. QB pursuit and ability to re-direct in the backfield is impressive for his size. Excels in a phone booth, will insert and explode through gaps. Displays the ability to get depth quickly and he can be very effective as the middle zone player, cleaning up on underneath routes. However. With his frame and growth potential he could develop into a 5 technique. On occasion, he is overaggressive in his reads and leans heavily towards the run. We love his motor and intensity.
